I am the mayor of a small town in Nevada. I live in Las Vegas. I am not a fan of small towns. I was told that in order to be politically correct and still be a part of the community that I needed to be a part of the wedding. I told them I would only be a part of it if I could have a wedding cake from a local bakery. I was told to call the local newspaper and check for a directory of bakeries in town. I called and was given the number for the Baker’s Store. I spoke with a very nice young lady that told me the cost of a sample cake, the delivery charge, and the cost of having the cake decorated with the small town name and flag. I told her that was nice, but I was only interested in the regular cake. She then told me that the cost of the cake was only $6.00 a slice and the best part was that the lady who owned the shop was a part of the community and wanted to help me out. I asked if she ever won a competition for the best cake in the state. She said that the lady had never won one. I then told her that I would like to set up a tasting and if I liked the cake then I would pay for the cake and for the decorating. She told me that if I set up a tasting that I would have to come in person and pick out a cake that I wanted to try. I told her that I was on my way. When I arrived the young lady that worked there was waiting for me. I told her that I had come for a tasting. She showed me into the dining room. It was very nice. There was another young lady that helped us. She was very nice. We had 4 flavors to sample. We ate cake for about 2 days for free! We decided on strawberry with whipped cream frosting and marble with fudge filling. The young lady that was waiting talked to the lady in charge and told us that we could have the cake delivered at 7:00pm and the caterer could cut it and serve it. The decorations were to be left at the venue. When the cake was delivered it was perfect. It looked like it had been baked in a slow cooker. The layers were so thin, it was like eating a cake from heaven. It was so good that my fiance and I ate the entire cake within a week of the wedding. I want to thank the Baker’s Store for helping make my wedding a reality.

I met with Janie a few months before my wedding. I was so happy to see she had some of the most amazing designs I had ever seen! I was so excited to create my cake!

I had a great time cake tasting! She had the most delicious flavors I had ever tasted. I think I even got a little bit of every flavor. It was so hard for me to decide on one flavor because they were all so great! I ended up choosing lemon with white chocolate mousse and almond with amaretto mousse. I am not usually a fan of lemon, but the lemon in the cake was so light and refreshing! The almond was so sweet but not overpowering. I loved the idea of an almond cake and amaretto mousse!

Janie really listened to what I wanted and made the cake just as I had imagined! It was beautiful! I got so many compliments on the look and taste of the cake! I even had a friend who was at the wedding and is in the wedding business tell me that was one of the best cakes he had ever seen! The best part is that she makes the cakes the day before your event so it is as fresh as if it came from the bakery! How awesome is that!

Janie has won a few awards for her cakes, and she should because she truly makes the best tasting cakes ever! I cannot wait to cut into our topper on our 1st anniversary!
