We used Bleu Squid for our wedding cake. It was so easy to set up a cake tasting with them. We got to try all the different flavors and fillings and it was so hard to choose. We decided to go with a coconut cake with pineapple filling… so good! Bleu squid worked with our florist to decorate the cake with real flowers. The day of the wedding the cake looked even better than I had imagined. But what really amazed me, was how great the cake tasted. Unlike other cake vendors, they do not use fondant to cover the cake in. Which means that the outside of the cake will be as smooth as the inside. No dry spots, no grainy frosting. It was so good that we actually had to have our anniversary cake early! (no waiting a year for this cake). I would highly recommend Bleu Squid for their service and their yummy cakes. I would use them again for an anniversary cake or any other special occasion. But I will definitely be back to buy my cakes from them.

We used Blu Squid and were so pleased with the service, treats and final product we received. We started by sampling their wares at their Brookfield location. We were able to pick out our exact flavors of ice cream and cheesecake, toppings and whatnot. We then met with their Mystic location to make our final selections. We opted to do a small cake to cut with mini desserts. We did a small cake tasting and were able to select the flavors of our choice. We went with a chocolate cake, with a mint chocolate chip filling and vanilla cheesecake with caramel drizzle and pecan bits. It was all so yummy! We also decided on a design for our cake, which ended up being a simple one with stripes of dark and light purple on either side. They also delivered our cake to the reception venue on time. Our guests raved about the desserts and how fun they were. So, kudos to the folks at Blu Squid!

We have been huge squid fans for years, and always wanted to feature them in a wedding cake. Since we didn’t have a ship (not even a dolphin) theme, we decided to go for an edible ship logo to bring in our favorite ocean denizens. Enter Bleu Squid. They took our logo and made into a delicious logo cookie, which we placed on top of our cake.

The cakes were great. They were moist, and had just the right amount of sweetness. They were also very flexible. When we wanted to add another tier because of the size of our guest list, they didn’t charge us more.

The real perk was their prices. Cheesy as it may sound, wedding cakes can be really expensive. We had a choice between two bakers, and their pricing was nearly half the price. Their product may be “not pretty”, but it sure tastes delicious, and they have lots of flavors to pick from. They also have other desserts, so we didn’t have to stick with cake. If you want to jazz up your wedding cake, I’d give these guys a call.

We got married on March 16 at the Hartford Hotel. Leading up to the wedding, we tried as many of the cupcakes as we could to help us with our decision on which cupcakes to have at the wedding. We decided on 3 flavors: Classic Vanilla, Lemon with Raspberry filling, and Chocolate with Cannoli Cream filling. We also got to try Blue Crab, which is their version of a cheesecake. Both were great cheesecakes, but we thought the Blue Crab was a little too sweet. We decided on having all 3 types of cupcakes, and we also decided on doing our cakes on cupcakes. The bride’s cake was marble with chocolate and vanilla with their cheesecake filling, and the groom’s cake was chocolate with their cheesecake filling. The cupcakes were all decorated beautifully! When it came to the wedding, I was a little bit worried that the cupcakes wouldn’t arrive, since it was on a weekend and they are closed on Saturday. I called them a few times to make sure everything was go, and on the day of the wedding, they delivered the cupcakes and set them up beautifully! The cupcakes were a hit at the wedding and we got a lot of compliments on them. The best part was that we got the 4 inch cheesecake cakes as our wedding cake, which we can eat in the week ahead and eat on our 1 year anniversary! Great product and service!
