I first found Bittersweet Confections on a recommendation from one of my favorite wedding photographers in New Orleans, Trang Nguyen. I am so glad I found this bakery because the cakes were amazing! My fiance, who is not a sweets eater, loved the mini pie favors and the unique flavor combinations. The team at Bittersweet was very accommodating and easy to work with. The venue coordinator at L’Auberge told me that the team there also recommended I work with Bittersweet. We planned our wedding remotely since I am from Texas, and the team worked with us to plan an over-the-phone tasting and were very helpful. They coordinated with the onsite coordinator at the venue to set up the favors and everything went perfectly. The only thing I was disappointed by was that there were only 5 flavors of mini pies to choose from, though they do have other flavors available as cakes and regular sized pies. I wish I could include a photo of how amazing the pies are - they are little pies in the shape of tiny Cokes and Marmons!

Bittersweet confections is more than just delicious cakes and fillings… it’s an experience. Our tasting was not only about taste, it was about how the cake would look when we decided to have a wedding in a tent rather than a wedding palace. The owner was so excited about our cake ideas rather than going to a bigger company. Even the tasting was a class act. We got to try the cake in a private room, and we got to choose the flavors we wanted to taste. The designer was very helpful in working with us on not only the look we wanted, but also working with my daughter who is allergic to nuts. There were several other tastings we could have attended, but where else can you get a cake tasting like this? I loved this bakery before we even decided to get married there. I love the owners, I love the experience, and I love the product. I don’t think I will be able to get enough of it. The look of the cake was amazing, and I wish I could attach a photo. It was a beautiful three tiered cake with purple and blue flowers instead of the usual white. It was perfect for our theme of purple and blue. The texture of the cake was amazing too. I was worried that the texture wouldn’t be very nice for a naked cake, but it was unbelievable. It looked like fondant, but it was much more delicious. I don’t usually like fondant, but that’s how I described it to the owner, and she assured me that it would be great. She was right. I had people say it was the best cake they had ever had. Even my daughter who is typically against any cake with nuts, and is normally a granola, fruit and yogurt type girl, had a piece of cake with nuts in it. I wish I could give more than 5 stars, because there are no words to describe how amazing this cake was.
