We had a tasting, looked at their website, and made our decision. The cake was delicious, the price was reasonable, AND you don’t need to save the top layer for a year. That’s right, instead of freezing the top layer to eat a year from now, you can have it now and eat it too!!! The cake was delicious, moist, and very flavorful. We had a white cake with fresh raspberry filling and a chocolate cake with mocha filling and chocolate icing. The icing was so smooth you would think it was fondant (but isn’t) but it’s so delicious you don’t notice it’s not fondant! We had a few people skip the cake and just go for a slice because it was that good. We served it with coffee (also very good) and it was a huge hit. I was also able to go to their home to pick up my complimentary cake stand. Now, you all know the saying, you pay for what you get. That’s not the case with a wedding cake. We were very happy with what we received. There were a few things that I didn’t discuss with them before because I assumed they knew (i.e. I know you’re getting a naked cake, but my wedding colors are bright and I was worried about frosting colors). There were a few things that I ended up regretting not talking about before. We wanted a very specific design on the cake and it didn’t turn out the way we wanted. We also wanted an eggshell design on the cake (not a fondant design) and got one that was very plain. We were going to be placing our wedding cake on a marble cake stand and they told us that the cake couldn’t sit on a metal stand without applying fondant (we didn’t want fondant and they didn’t know how to do an eggshell design without fondant). This was all very frustrating because I knew it was the bakery’s decision to make but I wanted to make sure our expectations were met. In the end, it was good. It was what we expected basically. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew the prices you were paying for the cake are what you get. Some things might be a little higher or lower than what you’re expecting but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Not everything, but most things.
