In addition to our cake, which was absolutely delicious, our mothers received gifts when they went to do the cake cutting. We had chosen two flavors for our cake. A layer of red velvet with a layer of cream cheese…it’s a favorite around here! The other layer was a white cake with lemon and blueberry filling. The other gift was a book of the menu selections for the night. We had 5 selections, and each had a cartoon character to go with it. We had the cheesecake, salad, hot chocolate, pasta, and shrimp & peppers. What we liked about the menu book is that we could make our own selections and try them in the comfort of our own home…and we did! We had a blast going through the book, selecting our menu, and then actually making our selections. We gave our book to our caterer, Linda, and she put it in our wedding album for us. The gift of the book is a keepsake that we have, and it’s a great memory of the night. And of course we had our cake, which is a wonderful memory all its own! Our mothers had the time to try the characters and they were surprised and happy, and so were we! Our cake was absolutely delicious, and we have our wedding picture with a slice of cake in it, and our mothers have a picture with a selection from the menu book. What a great keepsake! And the best part is that we can look forward to a cake from here on in at least once a month! I’ll admit that we do have a soft spot for cake, but we can’t wait for our first anniversary!
