The cake tasting for my wedding was such a blast, however, I was slightly disappointed when I found out that they weren’t open on our wedding day. That being said, I contacted them and they were so accommodating and provided us with a way to taste cakes at home! We received 12 different flavors of cake and 12 different flavors of frosting… sooooo good. We decided on cinnamon for both our layers and our cake was not only beautiful, but tasted AMAZING. They also accommodated our vegan (fiancé) and gluten free (me) needs. I got to have dessert on our wedding day while still following dietary restrictions! My family also used them for a shower. EVERYONE loved the cake. Seriously, look no further. They also have cake stands available for a small fee. I saw some on their website. Also, don’t be afraid to contact them and set up a tasting. You’ll love them!

Our cake from the Bird was part of a package deal for the reception venue we chose (The Yardley Mansion) they work with Blackbird Pastries often, so I knew I didn’t had to worry about getting the wrong cake. We were able to do 2 different flavors, my now husband is big on peanut butter and jelly so we chose those flavors to be in the different tiers. I had seen their cakes before, and was aware that they don’t make what you want on paper exactly, but I had no problem with that. We told them that we wanted the claddaugh hand and feet, and the Blackbird people said that they would try to make those out of fondant (the hand and feet are pretty time consuming to make). I was a little nervous at first when we had our tasting, as they give you a whole slice of cake to try, but what they don’t tell you is that you have to pay for the cake, and they only give you a small taste of each flavor (the slices are pretty small), so in effect what you’re paying for is the cake they give you to try, in reality it costs $20. After we tried the cake, and decided that yes we want this cake, we paid that small fee, and they made the hands and feet out of fondant! I was so happy, the cake looked amazing, and everyone loved the cake. I was expecting to pay a lot more, but they were very competitive with the other cake vendors we were looking at, and their cakes tasted much better! I was happy I went with Blackbird Pastries.
