Alexandria Pastry Shop is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been going there for over 30 years. They are a small local bakery and restaurant and I have never had a better tasting cake or better service. Their cakes are not overly sweet and are perfectly moist. I have had many of their cakes and pastries and always got raved reviews. So when my daughter wanted a wedding cake I knew where we would go. We chose one of their cakes and picked out the decorations. We had a 4 tier cake with each layer a different flavor. We chose pistachio, rum, vanilla, and lemon. Their decorations consist of 3 tiers of scrolls and a central “medallion” which they brought from their archives. They also put fresh flowers on the top and bottom tiers. The bottom tier was white cake and the top tiers were yellow. The middle tier was a chocolate scroll. The whole cake was then covered with a chocolate glaze. The outside of the cake was a rum vanilla butter cream icing. We loved it so much we ordered duplicate cakes for our wedding rehearsal and wedding shower. We also ordered a large cannoli for our rehearsal dinner. It was all spectacular. We also found out that they make a great small cake for single servings. So we ordered one for my husband like our wedding cake but with a different flavor. We had the best of both worlds. We still have one for our first anniversary. I can’t wait for our anniversary to have it again.

My husband and I used Alexandria Pastry Shop and Catering for our wedding cake. They were one of two vendors that we interviewed and had taste tests with. All of the samples were delicious. We chose to do cupcakes for our wedding, and Alexandria Pastry Shop and Catering allowed us to have different flavors of frosting and different fillings for each cupcake. They also decorated the cupcakes beautifully. Our wedding was May 8, 2015 and the cupcakes were a hit! I received so many compliments from our guests. We also ordered a two tier cake to be sliced for our wedding party and family. The cake was beautifully decorated and was one of the best wedding cakes I had ever tasted. All of the flavors of filling and icing were delicious. Our cake was so good, that we ate a piece immediately after the wedding, and another piece on our one month anniversary.

I highly recommend Alexandria Pastry Shop and Catering for any event. They were one of the best vendors that we met during our planning process and we are still receiving compliments on our wedding cake months later.

Our catering company is one of their preferred vendors, and they did not disappoint! We were able to choose a cake, fillings, and icing– we were only able to choose one filling– and a design. They also provided a rental cake stand and the only one we found that was suitable to use in front of an audience. And the cake was amazing! We were able to do 2 different flavors, and they even made our little unicorn friend that is now in our fridge :) They also made a whole separate cake for the groom’s cake which was also delicious and personalized to our tastes. They were also very accommodating– I was diagnosed with diabetes a few weeks before the wedding and was worried about how I would feed myself during the wedding. They let me borrow their diabetic’s cake plate (diabetes doesn’t mean you can’t eat dessert, I assure you)! All in all, even with the extreme bakers bias, we could still taste and taste how amazing our cake was (and not just the top, the whole thing– including the layers!). I would highly recommend this vendor to anyone looking for a wedding or birthday cake, or even just some really good frozen dessert. They now have a customer for life!
